What Is AAIP?

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)—formerly known as AINP—is Alberta’s immigration pathway for economic immigrants. AAIP Streams: Which One Is Right for You?

Worker Streams

1. Alberta Opportunity Stream
   • For skilled workers already employed in Alberta with valid status.
   • Requires a full-time job in an eligible occupation, CLB 4–5 depending on occupation, and work experience (12 months in Alberta within 18 months or 24 months in Canada/internationally within 30 months).

2. Tourism and Hospitality Stream

3. Alberta Express Entry Stream
   • Enhanced PNP: If you’re in the federal Express Entry pool with a minimum CRS of 300 and intend to move to Alberta, you may receive a Notification of Interest (NOI).
   • Includes special pathways for healthcare professionals, tech workers (Accelerated Tech), law enforcement, and priority sectors.
   • A successful nomination adds 600 CRS points, practically ensuring an ITA for PR.

4. Rural Renewal Stream

1. Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

3. Rural Entrepreneur Stream

Expression of Interest (EOI) & Application Process

• As of September 30, 2024, worker streams use an Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
• Eligible candidates enter the pool. Draws are held to invite candidates to apply based on Alberta’s priority needs.

  • If your work permit expired between May–Dec 2024 and your nomination was pending, you may receive a letter of support from AAIP for a 2-year open work permit.
