Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)
What Is the Yukon Nominee Program?
The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) offers a path for skilled workers, semi-skilled workers, and entrepreneurs with job offers or business intentions in Yukon to gain a provincial nomination. With a nomination, you can apply to IRCC for Canadian permanent residency. (turn0search0, turn0search3)
YNP Streams at a Glance
- Yukon Express Entry (Enhanced Stream)
If you already have an Express Entry profile, you may qualify for this fast-track stream—but you must also have a full-time, permanent job offer in Yukon. A successful nomination grants 600 CRS points, virtually guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR. (turn0search3)
- Skilled Worker Stream (Base Stream)
For positions in TEER 0–3 (management, professional, or technical roles), with at least 12 months of relevant work experience, a high school diploma, language ability, and a Yukon employer nomination. Must be full-time, permanent. (turn0search0, turn0search3)
- Critical Impact Worker Stream (Base Stream)
Targets semi-skilled or entry-level roles, categorized as TEER 4–5. Requires at least 6 months of work experience, a high school diploma, CLB 4 language, and a qualifying job offer. Employer-driven like other worker streams. (turn0search0, turn0search3)
- Business Nominee Program
For entrepreneurs and investors who want to establish or acquire a business in Yukon. Must demonstrate significant investment (e.g., a personal net worth and business plan), ownership commitment, and management involvement, followed by a temporary work permit and eventual nomination. (turn0search3, turn0search15)
- Yukon Community Pilot (YCP)
A special pilot allowing nominated individuals to receive a 2-year open work permit valid for multiple employers—but only within specific Yukon communities such as Whitehorse, Dawson City, Watson Lake, Haines Junction, Carmacks, and Carcross. Note that although it provided flexibility, this pilot closed on June 30, 2025, with ongoing applications still being processed. (turn0search10)
Yukon Nominee Program 2025: What’s New?
- Intake is employer-driven—only employers can submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) to nominate candidates. (turn0search5)
- Intake reopened in 2025, but the number of nomination slots was halved to 215, prioritizing certain categories: candidates who:
- Have lived and worked in Yukon for at least 1 year
- Are Yukon University graduates
- Are francophone or French-speaking
- Previously received a Temporary Measure Letter of Support
(turn0search13, turn0search1)
- Employers submit EOIs, and selected candidates are invited to apply based on these priorities, rather than first-come-first-served. (turn0search1, turn0search5)
